Tracy Mattheson is a contemporary realist painter who lives and works in Eliot, Maine. A native of New York and having lived primarily in Massachusetts, her paintings pay homage to New England. Her personal style both searches and is expressive of the light, atmosphere, serenity, and bustle of the community surrounding her. Landscapes, cityscapes, boaters, and tourists are all brought to life with bold compositions. She states that, in art school she worked less representationally. After moving to Maine, she wanted to capture the intense effect that her surroundings had on her, and she is currently developing the technical skills to do so.

As a child, Mattheson received the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Award for her innate talent. Tracy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Painting from MassArt Boston and Bachelor of Communications/Design — both with honors. Her parents met at MassArt, Boston and her father, Truman Egleston was a teacher at Boston State College, as well as a dedicated painter. Tracy served as a Sgt in the US Army, awarded the Army Commendation Medal and earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. She is currently married, the mother of two beautiful children, and was recently juried in the NHAA.
